PM Surya Ghar Scheme Will Let You Install Solar Panels At Really Affordable Price
With the increasing demand of electricity, the usage of solar panels is rapidly increasing every day, thus adding to the overall sustainable installed capacity in the country’s growth. Solar power enables harnessing the power from the sun, helping our electrical devices to run without interruption. Solar energy neither contributes towards the environment via pollution nor it prevents you from using your electrical devices from running for too long.
To ensure more adaptation of these solar panels, the government of India launched a new solar subsidy scheme called, ‘PM Surya Ghar Yojana.’ This new scheme ensures rapid adoption of solar systems for the citizens by offering substantial financial support to the people, helping them reduce their installation cost and empowering the usage of renewable energy.
PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme
In January, 2024, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the new ‘PM Surya Ghar Yojana‘ to all the citizens of the country. This new scheme allows subsidy benefits to up to Rs. 78,000 to 1 Crore people of the country who register for it, and also ensures up to 300 units of free electricity every month to the beneficiary families.
For its implementation, a budget of Rs. 75,000 crores has been allocated in the interim budget by the Finance Minister. Through this scheme, India’s 1 crore homes will install solar panels on their rooftop and benefit from government subsidies and will be able to use free electricity under this scheme. The central government has also provided an official website for applying to the scheme. To apply for the scheme, you can visit the official website or visit your nearest post office for any further assistance needed regarding this scheme.
Solar System Capacity for Availing Subsidy
Under this scheme, you can get financial benefits for installing solar systems ranging from 1 kW to 10kW capacity. Before installing solar panels, it’s necessary that you assess your home’s electricity load accordingly to proceed purchasing solar panels for the required capacity.
For example, if your house consumes 150 units per month, then a 1kW solar panel system is indeed suitable for your home, as it can generate up to 5 units of electricity per day. By accurately assessing your home’s electricity needs, you can save plenty of money by choosing the right capacity for your solar system that perfectly fits your needs.
You can avail subsidies for solar systems, ranging from 1kW to 10 kW. For installing a 1kW solar system, the central government provides a subsidy of ₹30,000. For a 2kW system the subsidy is increased to ₹60,000, and for 3kW to 10kW, the government provides a maximum subsidy of ₹78,000.
